Last weekend, we were lucky enough to be the venue for the opening recital of the 5th Annual Westport Festival of Chamber Music. It was an absolutely spectacular performance and we were delighted to be able to host such a stunning event in partnership with Madeleine from Classical Links and the very committed and hard-working festival committee.
Guests enjoyed a rather magnificent programme of chamber music while also absorbing the historic surroundings – and perfect acoustics – of our beautiful long gallery. The very talented Leon McCawley, Jack Liebeck and Guy Johnston opened with Beethoven’s Piano Trio in D major Op.70 No.1 ‘Ghost’. They were followed by Jennifer Strumm playing Pederecky’s Cadenza for solo viola. The Navarra Quartet were joined by Guy Johnston to close with Schubert’s String Quintet in C Major. A truly exquisite night enjoyed by all.
For the first time, on Sunday morning, we hosted a second recital where the Navarra String Quartet performed Beethoven’s String Quartet in A minor Op. 132. Despite a wet morning, the recital went down a treat with a full house in attendance again.
Have a look here at some images from the event.
