We are pleased to announce the commencement of an exciting new chapter in our story with the development of our new luxury hotel, The Grace. Scheduled to open in early 2026, this marks a significant milestone for us, as it not only honours the legacy of Hotel Westport but also sets the stage for a future where history, luxury, and the natural beauty of our surroundings seamlessly converge.

For over five decades, Hotel Westport has been a beloved cornerstone of our community, a place where countless families have gathered, celebrated, and made lifelong memories. Since its establishment in 1971, Hotel Westport has been more than just a building; it has been a vital part of our community’s fabric, providing jobs, opportunities, and a warm welcome to all who have passed through its doors. As we bid a fond farewell to this cherished institution, we do so with immense gratitude to the dedicated staff and loyal guests who have been at the heart of its success over the years.

Owen Hughes, a Director at Westport Estate, captures our sentiments perfectly: “For decades, Hotel Westport has been a pillar of our local community, providing jobs and opportunities for countless families. As we bid farewell to Hotel Westport, we celebrate its legacy and the dedicated staff who have shaped its history. We want to take this opportunity to thank the entire Hotel Westport team and the valued guests who have been at the core of its success over the years.”

The Grace, our new hotel, carries forward this legacy while ushering in a new era of luxury and sophistication. The name ‘The Grace’ is steeped in history and symbolism, inspired by two remarkable women whose connections to Westport Estate run deep. Grace O’Malley, the legendary Pirate Queen and formidable leader of the Ó Máille dynasty in the 1500s, represents the indomitable spirit and rich heritage of the West of Ireland. Alongside her, Grace Kelly, the iconic actress and Grace of Monaco, who shares a distant familial link with the Hughes family, embodies timeless elegance and glamour. These two extraordinary figures are at the heart of The Grace’s identity, promising our guests an experience where the past and present meld into something truly unique and unforgettable.

In designing The Grace, we are committed to delivering an unparalleled hospitality experience that harmonises the rugged beauty of the Wild Atlantic Way with the utmost in luxury. Our guests can look forward to a range of immersive experiences that nourish the mind, body, and soul, offering them a chance to reconnect with what matters most. Whether it’s through serene natural settings, exquisite dining, or rejuvenating wellness programmes, The Grace will be a place where every moment is crafted with care and attention.

We have partnered with some of the finest talents to bring this vision to life. Mayo-based architects Taylor McCarney are leading the design of The Grace, infusing contemporary elegance with environmental sustainability to ensure that our new hotel not only complements but enhances the natural landscape. The build will be executed by Stewart Construction, a respected Galway-based firm known for their commitment to quality and innovation. Construction begins immediately, with a keen focus on creating a sustainable, aesthetically captivating environment that honours the beauty of our surroundings.

The Grace is not just a new hotel; it is a key component of our broader vision for Westport Estate. Our ambition is to transform the area into a premier tourist destination that offers a seamless blend of history, nature, and luxury. Through this transformation, we invite our guests to “Awaken Your Wild,” to explore the untamed beauty of the West of Ireland, and to immerse themselves in experiences that will stay with them long after they leave.

As we embark on this exciting journey, we look forward to sharing more details about The Grace and our plans for the future. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to welcome you to experience the next chapter in the story of Westport Estate.
